It's the 20th Anniversary of Pep Rally on the Square!

School is back in session and football season is right around the corner. And in Robertson County, that means it's time for our annual Pep Rally on the Square. The Chamber will host the 20th annual Pep Rally on the Square on Thursday, August 10,  5:00 – 7:00 pm on Main Street in Springfield, TN.

Pep Rally on the Square has become an annual tradition for Robertson County high schools dating back to the fall of 1997. The event brings together students, teams, and faculty from all five Robertson County public high schools for a kickoff to the new school year and football season.  Unique to our community in its county-wide scope, this event has grown in popularity each year, forcing a change of venue from a corner of the Court House Square to a full block  of South Main Street between 5th and 6th Avenues.

A crowd of nearly 2,000 gathered last year to see their favorite football teams introduced, cheerleading squads lead the crowd, dance squads entertain, and bands perform.  East Robertson HS, Greenbrier HS, Jo Byrns HS, Springfield HS and White House Heritage HS bring students, athletes, fans and parents for an evening of school spirit and fun. A highlight of the event is the Spirit Competition which pits teams of students from all five schools in games like egg toss, limbo, sack races, and tug of war to see who will take home the coveted Volunteer State Bank Spirit Trophy. Last year, Greenbrier HS prevailed and took home the title.

Sponsored by NorthCrest Orthopedics and Honeysuckle Hill Farm, proceeds from the event and the sales of spirit pennants benefit the ACT Counts program of the REDI Education Foundation. ACT Counts recognizes students who excel on the ACT college prep exam with a fun day at Honeysuckle Hill Farm each fall for seniors who meet three of four college readiness benchmarks on the ACT. Students who attend the ACT Counts event each receive a door prize ranging in value from $40 gifts to $500 cash.   Spirit pennants are available in each school’s colors and can be purchased from schools and from the Robertson County Chamber of Commerce for $2 each or $10 for a set of all five.

Attendees are urged to come out early and stake out your spot in the stands.  Student seating will be reserved on the grass in front of the Robertson County Court House and an area for lawn chairs will also be provided. Concessions  will be available for sale from Whitt’s Bar-B-Que, Little Caesar's, Historic Perk and The Copper Vault.

Main Street  in Springfield is the place to be this Thursday evening if you love high school football and all the things that go along with it!
